Drone Pilot Certification

Before flying an agricultural drone in Canada, operators must follow Transport Canada RPAS rules. Drone certification helps ensure safe, legal, and responsible drone operation.

Tips for Drone Pilot Certification

Prepare by studying important RPAS topics such as airspace rules, weather, flight planning, emergency procedures, drone safety, and Transport Canada regulations.

Take practice exams before the final test. This helps you understand the question format and improves your confidence.Learn how to read airspace maps and identify restricted or controlled areas before planning any flight.

Always create a pre-flight checklist. Check your drone, propellers, batteries, firmware, GPS signal, controller, and weather conditions before flying. Keep all required documents ready, including drone registration, pilot certificate, flight logs, and maintenance records.

For agricultural drone operations, check the field area before flying. Look for trees, power lines, buildings, roads, livestock, people, and other obstacles.Avoid flying in poor weather conditions such as strong wind, rain, fog, or low visibility.Before your flight review, practice basic flight movements, safe takeoff and landing, emergency landing, and return-to-home procedures.
